I work from home and basically what I do is price home owners insurance claims.  Say someone claims a loss, whether it is due to a fire, flooding, or another one of Mother Nature’s furies, they would report it to their insurance company.  The insured then works with an adjuster and together they review and inventory the items that were damaged/lost. That information is provided to me and I’m then responsible for telling them how much they are getting for said items.

For the most part, I really love it. The job itself is SUPER easy and I basically get paid to shop for a living.  Who wouldn’t like that, right? On top of that, I make my own hours, which allows me to do all those things I need to get done throughout the week. When I say “things” I need to get done throughout the week, I mean activities with the kids, doctors’ appointments and other miscellaneous errands. Oh, and when it’s 90 degrees out, it’s nice to be able to wake up and say that I feel like going to the beach today!

Those are all the upsides to working at home. The one major downside for me is the lack of adult interaction while I’m home.  Sure, I get out sometimes and I always have my social media “friends” that I chat with most days, but sometimes I really miss office gossip or having a laugh with coworkers.

Don’t get me wrong, in no way, shape, or form do I want to work outside the home right now.  I don’t think I would be able to pull it off anyways with school schedules (I have one in preschool and one in first grade), but every now and then I think about something fun that happened at work in my last lifetime and it makes me miss having other grown-ups to talk to.
