My little clan and I love playgrounds. We try to check one out at least once a week. We especially enjoy finding one that we have never been to before. So many new adventures to be had! The newest park in our area, Marathon Park in Bridgewater, is, according to my 4 year old, “Totally awesome!” And I 100% agree. If you haven’t been over there yet, I don’t know what you’re waiting for!!
There is so much to do at this park. They really took the time to plan the park so all ages can enjoy. It just opened this month, and we’ve already been 5 times. And each time we’ve gone, there’s been something new to explore that we didn’t get the chance to check out on the last trip. So much fun!
The park is very large, but the entire thing is fenced in, which is a huge relief. The entrance is open, but located near the younger children play space, so it’s easy to keep an eye on anyone who might try to make a run for it. There are also lots of swings, which is great. We have been to so many parks that only have a few swings, and there are usually only 1 or 2 baby swings. Not here! There are 2 large swing areas, 1 on each side of the park, with an abundance of swings for every age. This is one of my favorite parts of this park. There is also a picnic area and sand box with lots of digging toys.
The park is split up into 3 sections, catering to different age groups. All of them can be played on by any age with proper adult supervision, of course. The first area is geared towards infants to 3 years. There’s a climbing structure with tunnels and slides. This is also where the musical instruments are – always a favorite with my kids!
The next section is most appropriate for 3 to 6 year olds. It is much larger and has more things to climb and explore. There are multiple slides and one side looks like a ship, which you can drive and use your imagination.
The last section is for the big kids, built for ages 5 and up. It is surrounded by an obstacle course of sorts, with lots of monkey bars, balance beams, and different levels of stepping blocks, all connected in a circle around the large climbing structure. Multiple slides and climbing ladders complete this fortress of fun.
As I said, there is a partially covered picnic area with many picnic tables. Note: this is the ONLY area with any shade. The lack of shade and restrooms are the only downsides to this park. I’m hoping they may bring in a port-a-potty for the summer months and possibly plant some trees around the perimeter of the park, but who knows. A girl can wish though!

We finally checked it out! Twice in one week in fact. Monday they had this gaping hole at the entry waiting for a toddler to bolt but then Thursday they had a gate there!
