Take a deep breath and sit back. We don’t have one single family photo. My husband and I have been married 10 years. We have 2 lovely sons they are 5 and 6. I have been taking photos of the boys since day one. Plus my husband and I would photograph of our travels and adventures since before they came. But, no family photo.
Just today I got an email asking for a family photo to be added to a gift for the matriarch of our family. This was nothing fancy, just a small pocketbook sized brag book. I laughed at the email. I promptly emailed back and asked it could be a photo collage? To which they replied, no it had to be a family photo. Well CRAP I don’t have one and I am not going to go out to get one. We just don’t do them. Fortunately my neighbor agreed to help us out on our front steps for this small family project.
Being a blogger with Fuggs and Foach, I then asked my readers on social media and most of them said they had not had them done in years, if at all. It made me feel reassured that I was not the only one who had not done this. I honestly feel the “family photo” idea has gone the way of the phone book.
I remember being young and you would stand up Christmas evening and everyone would take a turn taking photos of a large or small family. Now we just pull out a cell phone snap a few and send the best one via text and move on your way. I am not saying either way is right or wrong. I just didn’t think I would be running around a week before a family member wanted something to take a family photo I never had done before.
