Last year, our family enjoyed our first experience with the annual open house at Camp Edwards on the Cape (this year’s event is set for September 21 and 22).
What a day it was!
There was so much to see and do, I cannot possibly fit it all in one blog post, but I will share some highlights:
From the free parking, we rode a bus out to the event location – which was a big, happy deal for our homeschooled kids who find riding busses a rare and interesting experience.
There, we enjoyed chatting with re-enactors and trying our hands at colonial games…
…and other period activities.
We also watched helicopters land.
And checked out period equipment.
The kids and Daddy completed a training obstacle course.
We had opportunities to ask questions.
And, of course, to climb on plenty of equipment.
Obviously, the day was full of fun and learning for our family, so we hope to enjoy the Open House again this year on September 21 and 22.
Perhaps we’ll see some of you there as we all take advantage of all the weekend has to offer, which includes military encampments staffed by re-enactors, a World War II 
battle reenactment, tours of the Tactical Training Base, displays of Army and Air National Guard and US Coast Guard aircraft and military vehicles, equipment, artillery and weapons, and even a Car, Motorcycle and Truck Show sponsored by the Otis Civilian Advisory Council
