On July 25, the Old Colony YMCA held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the newly renovated Y Community Market at its Stoughton branch, located at 445 Central St., Stoughton, Mass. Renovations which began earlier this year are now complete, and shoppers can again visit the location. This project is part of Old Colony Y’s commitment to increasing food accessibility, providing nutrition education, and offering additional support to the community.
Anyone is welcome to use the market; there are no income requirements and shoppers do not have to reside in Stoughton. The only requirement is that shoppers register online at yourmarket.force.com and select a time to visit. Shoppers will find a variety of items available and can hand-select items that best fit their family’s cultural and dietary needs and preferences.
The renovations were made possible by supporters, volunteers, staff, and community members as well as by grant support from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources.
