As we know by now John is a 5 year old boy. John is bright and funny. John also has Autism.
Tomorrow, I fight hard for my little man. He has had an IEP (Individualized Education Program) for 3 years in preschool. John missed the cut off so he gets a new IEP for Kindergarten because he had 3 years of preschool.
This is hard for me because I am have a Special Education Degree (SPED ) and a Social Work Degree (MSW). I tend to use the 2 to become a powerhouse for other children. When it comes to John it is hard not to have my maternal emotion come through.
My SPED and MSW side says ok fight for a van for him verses a school bus and let the other pieces fall into place and call a meeting in October to discuss the amendment we may need. But, my mommy side says, “I want it perfect, now.” I have a LONG LINE of SPED and MSW needs I want to settle with them and become MEAN MOMMY.
I know no matter what happens I can get changes made as the come about.
