Who Needs a Night Out?!

By: Rachel Ventura

Since the very first time I heard about the “Paint and Sip” phenomenon that seems to be sweeping our local vicinity, I was obsessed. As you know, I like to craft, and who doesn’t like to have a drink or two during a fun night out every once in a while? I knew there were some shops in Boston and the surrounding areas that held these events, like The Paint Bar and Palettes. While these places look amazing, they were a little too far for me to travel.

One night, my family and I went to dinner at Chateau in Stoughton, and I saw that they were having an upcoming event with Paint Nite. I was so excited I could hardly contain myself! As soon as I got home, I checked the website and was pleasantly surprised to find they held events all over the area almost every night of the week! It was official. I was on the Paint Nite band wagon and could not wait to figure out which event I was going to attend!

Drink. Paint. Connect. Paint Nite is a smidgen of creative art instruction, a splash of wine and a whole lot of fun!

I sent out a Facebook plea to my friends and family to see who wanted to join me. Many voiced their interest but only one was able to commit to the same date as me. Honestly, I was so excited, I would have gone alone! So it was a date. My sister-in-law, and fellow Mommy Blogger, Tanya and I were all set to paint Birch Trees at Loco Tapas in Easton. I could not wait!

The night was so much fun!! Our instructor, Nicky, was great! They say the class is for all levels, whether you have a ton of art experience or none at all, and I agree! The way they take you through the painting, step by step, makes it really easy to follow. Also, since it is art, it doesn’t need to be exact. You’re encouraged to add your own artistic interpretation. The end result is a beautiful, original painting that you’ve created yourself! I love how at the end of the night, everyone’s picture looked almost the same, but not quite.

I’m so happy that I tried this and can’t wait to sign up for another! My painting will be proudly displayed in my family room for years to come. Plus, the memory of sipping a margarita while laughing with a friend, and getting creative, is an experience that will be held in my heart forever.

I don’t know about you, but as a household with two kids, two working parents, and no regular babysitter, nights out are few and far between. That’s why I really like to make them count, and this is one I definitely recommend! Do you have a local go-to night out location? Share it here!!

  1. This was so much fun! I too would do it again. I really do love my painting too, imperfections and all. And you know I don’t do imperfection! Thanks for making the suggestion. I truly loved spending the evening with you!
